Has this happened to you?
Your friend joins a network marketing group, then you see tons of posts about the company and the products, get sent a ton of invites, or get added to a group you have to awkwardly leave or turn off the notifications for.
It’s happened to me, and it freaks my out and makes me uncomfortable every time – ESPECIALLY because I have my own network marketing business!
Unfortunately, these peple get were likely taught the incorrect way to approach network marketing and it feeds into the negative repuatation of network marketing.
But good news for you – you’re researching how to talk to your friends about your network marketing business the right way! Here are some tried and true tricks:
UTILIZE SOCIAL MEDIA, BUT NOT YOUR OWN!
Some people may freak out that I said this – but I am a true believer that making a separate account for your business keeps trust. Start a 2nd Instagram just for pretty pictures of oils, and INVITE your friends to it. Don’t suddenly switch from pictures of the kids at the pool to 10 pictures a day of the oil business you just got into. There is an art to this that won’t drive your friends away and keeps your Facebook clean – and that way, you can grow your other accounts quicker if they are more focused on your business. Check out my business’ Instagram page here for an example. Feel free to share exciting updates on your personal Facebook, but for the love of everything precious, don’t spam people with your network marketing business.
STOP FEEDING YOUR FEARS
You don’t want to appear “sales-y”…or embarrass yourself….or fail…This kills network marketing businesses fast in the beginning. After watching hundreds of talks from succesful network marketers in the upper echelon, the most significant piece of advice I noticed that was CONSISTENT among all of them – was to stop being afraid and to stop caring what people think. It’s much easier said than done, of course, but understand that once you are a super successful network marketer and your business is soaring, you’ll look back and wish you had let go of those fears sooner.
Use your product. Know about it. Love it. If you don’t LOVE it, it’s going to be a heck of a lot harder to sell it.
TRUST YOUR INNER CIRCLE
Remember, your friends know you didn’t join this business just to help yourself. They know you mostly likely joined because you had a need in your life (personally, health-wise, financial, etc). Never underestimate how supportive your inner circle may be (even if they are taken aback by network marketing).
TALK ABOUT THE PRODUCT BEFORE THE BUSINESS
There are some very real, incredible perks with a successful network marketing business – Especially flexibility and finances… among others. It really is a wonderful opportunity that most people don’t understand Network Marketing if very misunderstood in popular culture. The reason for that is because it is not for everyone. That being said, have you ever been in room full of other successful network marketers? There is nothing like that feeling in this whole world! There are many, MANY others out there who work in this business full-time and understand what you are doing. For those who do not, please don’t feel like you need to teach them about it before they even understand the product. A good, successful network marketer fell in love with the product first, and your downline should too.
TELL THEM ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS SO THEY KNOW ABOUT IT, NOT JUST SO THEY BUY FROM YOU
A lot of your friends are going to support your network marketing business. Some will not. Some will buy, or ask to have a part, or even sign up to start a business under you – but some of the friends who won’t do any of that will STILL provide you with emotional support. You’ll be surprised how many people will be encouraging you to go for your dreams and to keep trying. But they will never know to tell you these things if you don’t talk to them about it. So, if they don’t buy something, don’t feel gross or icky when talking to your friends about your network marketing business – them knowing your doing the business and their encouraging words will be more helpful than you can imagine.
If you’re talking to your friends about your network marketing business, someone may get weird. If your friends don’t get on board with your product or business, understand that is their own opinion and it doesn’t devalue you or your business. This is just the beginning.
Do you agree with what I wrote? How do you talk to your friends about your network marketing business?
